Design and print your own fabric

Have you ever wanted to design and print your own fabric for your own interior project? Explore screen printing for textiles in this one day workshop in a brilliant Common Sense Print Studio - Ocean Studios at the Royal William Yard in Plymouth.

This exciting fabric design workshop will inspire you to create a small collection of printed designs and patterns on to fabric inspired by a series of simple drawing and mark making techniques that you will do in the session. You will learn how to translate these marks and patterns on to a screen and experiment with photographically exposed screens, block printing as well as paper cut stencil techniques.

You will learn about the basics of printing onto fabric as well as mixing colours. You will be able to build a small colour palette of your choice to compliment your interior project. Feel free to bring some colour inspiration with you!

You will have time to practice your print technique on to paper before being supplied with some natural white linen to print on to. This lovely fabric is suitable to use for cushions or to make a lampshade after at home. Alternatively you could use this fabric to make a small collection of printed fabric designs.

Lampshade kits with full instructions will be available to purchase at the end of the workshop for you to take home.

This is a mixed ability course for beginners and those with a little more screen print experience.

All materials will be supplied. The group size will be small to enable you to have the best experience.

Please wear your messy clothes and bring an apron as well as wearing flat closed toe shoes.

You will have a lunch time break, delicious food is available at the column bakehouse on site or you can bring your own pack lunch. Complimentary Tea, coffee and water will be available in the studio throughout the day.

We reserve the right to cancel the course for any reason (for example, insufficient bookings) and will try and give at least 7 days notice. A full refund will be given in the event of cancellation.
